A weak front will bring in more widespread storms on Thursday

WDSU NEWS. NOW TO THE WDSU FIRST WARNING WEATHER COMPLETE. DIFFERENT FROM 24 HOURS AGO AT THIS TIME WHERE WE WERE COVERING TORNADO WARNINGS AND STRONG WINDS ROARING THROUGH AMITE PARTS OF TANGIPAHOA PARISH. IT’S THE LAST OF SOME SHOWERS THAT I’LL SHOW YOU RIGHT? RIGHT NOW ON DOPPLER RADAR, WDSU FIRST WARNING WEATHER DOPPLER RADAR. THE LAST OF THOSE, REALLY, AS YOU HEAD OUT TO PEARL RIVER COUNTY INTO MISSISSIPPI AND HEAD OVER THE BORDER INTO MISSISSIPPI ITSELF, THOSE STORMS ROLLED THROUGH POPLARVILLE JUST ABOUT 15 MINUTES AGO, AS YOU CAN SEE, AND FROM THERE, THERE ISN’T A WHOLE LOT. BUT I DO WANT TO LOOK A LITTLE FARTHER UPSTREAM. LET’S GO CHECK OUT OUR NATIONAL RADAR. BECAUSE THE LAST SEVERAL DAYS WE HAVE FOUND THAT THOSE STORMS HAVE BEEN COMING FROM THE NORTH AND WEST, AND THEY HAVE BEEN ROLLING THROUGH RIGHT NOW. WE LOOK TO OUR JUST IMMEDIATE NORTH. AND THIS IS THE SAME COMPLEX OF STORMS. BUT YOU SEE THIS LITTLE THIN BAND OF RAIN SHOWING UP IN ARKANSAS. AND THAT WILL BE OUR NEXT CHANCE OF RAIN TO COME IN. AND IT’S MORE COURTESY OF A COLD FRONT MORE THAN ANYTHING, BUT IT’S MORE OF A WEAK FRONT. CAN’T REALLY CALL IT A COLD FRONT, AS WE KNOW THAT WE DON’T FIND ANY COOLER AIR THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. DID HIT 91 SLIDELL LAKEFRONT, 92 BOGALUSA 90. WHAT WE DID OFFICIALLY HERE. RAIN COOLED AIR BOGALUSA HAMMOND WITH THE STORMS THAT ROLLED THROUGH A LITTLE BIT EARLIER, BUT NOTHING LIKE YESTERDAY. 80 ELSEWHERE AS WE HEAD TO THE SOUTH SHORE, THE HUMIDITY WAY, WAY UP, BUT THE HUMIDITY HAS BEEN DROPPED A BIT AS WE KIND OF SUCKED OUT SOME OF THAT HUMIDITY FROM THE AIR AND PUT IT DOWN ON THE WAY OF RAIN OVER THE NORTH SHORE. SO THERE’S THAT FRONT THAT’S STARTING TO NEAR THE SYSTEM THAT WILL GO AHEAD OF IT. WE’RE GOING TO BRING THAT FRONT AND GIVE US OUR NEXT CHANCE OF STORMS. BUT THIS ONE COMES LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY TOMORROW MORNING. SO THE TIMING IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. WANT YOU TO BE PREPARED THAT THE TIME YOU’RE GETTING UP YOU COULD BE RUNNING INTO SHOWERS AND STORMS FROM THE TIME IT’S EARLY IN THE MORNING AND ALL THROUGH THE MORNING COMMUTE. YOU CAN WANT TO CHECK IN WITH METEOROLOGIST DAMON SINGLETON TO TRACK AND TRACK WHERE THOSE STORMS WILL BE. AS WE GET INTO FRIDAY. A LITTLE DRIER AIR IS GOING TO TRY TO WORK IN, BUT UNFORTUNATELY FOR US, WE’RE GOING TO START TO BUILD IN SOME HEAT FROM THE WEST TOO. SO IT’S GOING TO BE REALLY HOT, MAYBE SLIGHTLY DRIER. LET’S SEE HOW THAT SHORT TERM FORECAST LINES UP. PRETTY WELL WITH THE LATEST DATA. BUT LOOK WHAT HAPPENS LATE TONIGHT. EARLY TOMORROW MORNING, 4:00 WE START TO DEVELOP SOME WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS. BY THE TIME YOU MIGHT BE GETTING UP 7 TO 8 IN THE MORNING, WE COULD HAVE SOME MORE STORMS THAT ARE HERE. 80 LAKEFRONT TO START, 71 BOGALUSA 77 FOR MANY AREAS OF THE SOUTH SHORE. SO I’D SAY GIVE IT A FEW EXTRA MINUTES THURSDAY MORNING ON THE DRIVE. THAT’S WHAT I’VE GOT. YELLOW SHADED KIND OF FLAGS. GIVE IT A FEW EXTRA MINUTES BECAUSE THOSE ROADS COULD BE WET AND COULD BE SOME HEFTY STORMS TO STILL STORMING POTENTIAL THROUGH MIDMORNING. MOST OF THE HEAVIER STORMS STARTING TO MOVE SOUTH AND EAST BY MIDDAY, BUT THE ACTUAL FRONT STILL BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON, MIGHT REDEVELOP AN ISOLATED SHOWER OR STORM. AND AS YOU CAN SEE, BY THE TIME WE GET TO THURSDAY EVENING, EVERYTHING SHOULD GO AWAY. TOP TEMPS TO EVEN ABOUT 92 AS WE RECOVER SOME AFTERNOON SUNSHINE. LOOK WHAT HAPPENS HERE ON FRIDAY. TONS OF SUNSHINE IN THIS PARTICULAR FORECAST. THERE’S AN ISOLATED STORM STILL POSSIBLE, BUT LOOK WHERE TEMPERATURES GO. 96 THE LAKEFRONT 95 HERE. SOME OF THE HOTTEST AIR THAT WE’VE HAD THIS YEAR. I THINK 97 IS OUR HIGHEST TEMPERATURE WE’VE OFFICIALLY HAD. SO WE’RE GETTING CLOSE. BUT OF COURSE, WITH THOSE 90 DEGREE TEMPS, YOU ALWAYS GET A FACTOR IN HUMIDITY. IT’S NOT COMPLETELY GONE. IT’S JUST DOWN A BIT. SO WE’LL CONTINUE TO FIND DRIER AIR INTO SATURDAY, OR AT LEAST STAY AWAY FROM STORMS. BUT OUR NEXT FRONT STARTS TO ARRIVE MONDAY MONDAY INTO TUESDAY TO BRING OUR NEXT POSSIBLE CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND STORMS. BUT I DO WANT TO CHECK THE TROPICS AT THIS TIME. STILL A FEW TROPICAL WAVES, BUT WE’RE RUNNING INTO DRIER AIR, SAHARAN DUST AND DRIER AIR, AND WE HAVE A WIND SHEARS KEEPING ANYTHING FROM DEVELOPING. SO NOTHING OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. I KNOW THERE’S ALREADY BEEN SOME THINGS ON SOCIAL MEDIA SAYING THAT MAYBE IN TEN DAYS FROM. SO THERE COULD BE SOMETHING COMING, EXTREMELY LOW PROBABILITIES TRACKING THAT. AND WE’RE CHECKING IT TO BUT REALLY NO TO LOW CONFIDENCE IN THAT WDSU FIRST WARNING WEATHER SEVEN DAY FORECAST. SCATTERED STORMS MAINLY TOMORROW MORNIN

We're not done with storms just yet in your New Orleans weather forecast. There is a chance that storms fire up late tonight/early Thursday morning along a weak front that will begin to move into the area.Showers and storms are possible through the morning hours and could mean a wet drive for your morning commute.High temps will still top out around 80.Friday could be very hot as slightly drier air works itself into the region and portions of the Southwestern U.S. heat wave edges our way.Slightly drier air drops in for Saturday. Rain chances drop below 20% but high temps will stay hot with most in the lower 90s.A little higher humidity ticks back up on Sunday and another front eases into the area on Monday enhancing a chance of scattered storms once again. The forecast after Monday is a bit more uncertain where there will remain a chance of isolated storms with highs around 90.Several tropical waves still churn in the Southern Caribbean and Atlantic, but because of drier air and high wind shear no development is expected over the next seven days. Here's our seven day forecast:
